Non-Standard Mailbox

The previous mailbox had suffered from the elements; it had become very conceptual but less practical:
Since the chalet for which the new mailbox is intended was built after July 1977, it should comply with the NF D 27 405 standard. The precise details of this standard remain elusive, as it’s generously sold for €140.11 excl. VAT, and judging by the mailboxes available commercially (which must comply), one might deduce that French standard writers have a unique view of aesthetics. Still, the most practical aspects were retained: internal volume, opening, and positioning.

It opens with a simple vertical slide, eliminating issues with postal-compatible locks or vandalism protection.
In a small mountain village, an unlikely vandal would struggle to go unnoticed anyway.
