What does a kitchen table look like at the end of the day? Often like this:

After drinking a glass of water, people often leave their glass on the table to reuse later. After all, you don’t dirty a glass just by drinking water.
But later, you find other glasses left for the same reason. While you’re fine reusing your own glass, you’d rather take a clean one than drink from someone else’s... So you dirty another glass, unnecessarily.

Obviously, it would have a name instead of "numerunique," though the concept allows any identification method, as long as everyone recognizes theirs. Ideally, have as many name-coasters as people sharing the table to leave their glasses.
For guests, you can use compatible identifiers, like flower names, mountains, or famous musicians, for example.
Note that the name (or other mention) is inscribed around the disk’s edge. This allows identification even with a glass on top.
