Violin Cover
20/06/2018

The idea is to use just the necessary fabric.
The cover hugs the violin’s shape, except at the opening, where extra fabric eliminates the need for a drawstring. The benefit, besides ideal protection for a precious instrument, is less handling to put on or remove the cover and no excess bulk between the violin and its case.
And the digital aspect? The cover’s shape is vectorized from the violin’s silhouette, and the silk is laser-cut, indeed!

This cover comes in two models:
- Nightgown:

- Duvet cover:

Model #2 was initially offered to the musician, who preferred model #1.
But why silk? Isn’t it expensive?
Yes, real silk is costly, but it has wonderful properties, starting with its beauty. In this context, the cost is relative. For the example in these photos, the fabric’s cost is less than 0.001% of the violin’s price :-)
